At Christmas I will have 1500$ for my first gaming PC i'm going to build. This is not including the OS, monitor, mouse or keyboard. I'm not going to overclock. I was thinking about the EVGA 980 and i7-4790k. And i'm not including the monitor, but I would like a recommendation.

A touch over budget, but worth it for the performance given. I spared you the few extra coin on the processor. I debated giving you an i7 at all, but figured you'd probably branch out into other enthusiast areas of the tower life. No unlocked processor though, since you don't plan on overclocking. Dual 280X's for higher resolution set-ups. SSD, which is probably the best upgrade you can do for any system. And 16GB of ram, so to actually future proof multitasking
