When gtx 970 first rolled in reviews sites were raving. The first negativity came from EVGA's coil whine issue, but then a week later user reviews are popping up all over and I've heard coil whine, temperature and crashes as all being issues for every single version of the gtx 970. I've had my eye on the Zotac Extreme. Though everybody seems say stay away form Zotac and get an ASUS, MSI with some suggesting gigabyte. Original ASUS was what I wanted, but I hate the 0dB as my cpu and case fans will be on anyway making the 0db completely pointless. ASUS wasn't think straight with that decision. I never any bad experience so far with a gpu. I've got a gigabyte and some sapphires and an XFX. Seems I should ignore reviews in general and just buy a gpu that has the right look and specifications for me. I have to wonder how people treat they're hardware with how many issues other people run into, also I would think if any issue arouse amazon or newegg would take the gpu back and send you replacement with no questions asked. Of course biggest issue with 970 right now is it's still impossible to get.

There is nothing wrong with the 0 dB fan. Many people want silence, and it is a big selling point. Plus, even if my case fans were loud, I'd have no problem with my MSI 970's fans not running. It idles around 35C with the fans off, and if you don't want it to run with the fans off, set a custom profile in MSI Afterburner.

Coil whine can happen with any card. Many people are reporting that it goes away after some use, though.
