My ethernet connection shows as limited / unidentified network in windows 8.1. It was working fine for about 2 weeks and one evening it just stopped working. I've tried a number of fixes and I could really use some help. Variables eliminated so far:

Router
Ethernet cable
Hub
ethernet card

I've taken the following steps:

1. Swapped out ethernet cable
2. Reset router
3. Reset computer (full power down)
4. Purchased usb to ethernet adapter (same problem persists)
5. Updated drivers, rolled back drivers
6. System restore
7. Windows update
8. Manually assigned IP using IPV4

Any help I can get here would be most appreciated.

Thanks

have you tried a different network port on the switch or router?

Yes I've tried multiple ports on the switch and have connected the PC directly to the powerline outlet. No difference. Other devices plugged into the switch still have internet access.

Right click on the internet logo in your taskbar (next to the time and date) and click on 'Troubleshoot problems'. That should fix your problem or atleast let you know what's wrong
