Cpu Temps and other Values

Hello everyone I am new to the FX series of the AMD processor. I was wondering what do I need to watch other than temps I have noticed that my CPU is fluctuating between 1.4 Ghz to 4.1 Ghz and this is on a an FX-6300 on a Gigabyte 990-FXA-UD3 board. The board and processor are brand new and I am using the stock CPU fan. I am not overclocking just running regular programs and internet.

1- What is the normal temp for this processor?
2- Should the core clocks be fluctuating?
3- What should I be watching for?

System specs are as follows:
Case: Coolmaster cosmos 1000
MB: Gigabyte 990-FXA-UD3
CPU: AMD FX-6300
Sound: SoundBlaster Z series
Video: GTX 560TI FPB
PSU: Corsair RM1000
Ram: OCZ 2x2gb

With that result I believe you should be fine, one hour of prime 95 is very intensive, much more intensive on the CPU than 1 hour of gaming would be, so if you aren't breaking 54 degrees on prime then everything seems to be working as intended and you have nothing to worry about.

I don't have much experience with the FX series of CPU's but I have heard that AMD recommends a 65c temperature for that CPU, some say this is a bit conservative and it can be pushed a bit higher without issues but I would be aiming for no higher than 65 but you shouldn't really worry unless it's consistently reaching above the 65c.

The core clocks fluctuate depending on what you are doing, when just browsing or in low power applications the processor will not run at full speed, this is to keep temps and power consumption down, when you boot into a game or other cpu intensive application then the CPU will be running full speed.

I would recommend an after market cooler for the CPU, the stock one supplied isn't exactly the best at cooling, some good and affordable coolers are the Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO and the Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro Rev.2. These will be much more effective at cooling your CPU.

Just keep an eye on the temps really, if they are consistently going above 65c then you might want to invest in one of the coolers I mentioned.

I haven't done no load yet testing yet , what should I test for load with

I did a prime95 for 1hr and my temp was 54c with stock fan here is a screen shot of it
