I built a computer about a year ago and it still works great, but I'm wanting some faster load times. I really want to upgrade to an SSD, but I'm scared of the issues I might run into. I'm running a 1TB 7200rpm hard drive right now, and I'm wondering how I would go about moving important things like OS to the SSD. I'm running Windows 8.1 (unfortunately).

Other specs:
AMD Radeon HD 7950
8GB DDR3

It will not be easy to move your OS from your HDD to your SDD without reinstalling the OS. There are programs you can get which will mirror or ghost your HDD onto your SDD but I would not recommend trying them unless you have a lot of technical experience or know someone who does.

Your best solution is to simply reinstall Windows on the new drive, drop the HDD in as a second drive, pull any data you want to save from the HDD, format the HDD, then use it as a data drive.
