Planning on getting a 512GB SSD, need some advise please...

Samsung 840 PRO 512GB - $332 - PCCG
Samsung 840 EVO 500GB - $259 - MSY
Transcend SSD370 512GB - $255 - MSY
Crucial MX100 512GB - $265 - MSY
Fujitsu 512GB - $275 - MSY

Thanks Novuake, sry it was 500GB updated it...., does it make a difference ? how much space do these 512s actually have ?

Near their rated storage. But I find 240/256GB a lot more cost effective.

Interesting..., so would you suggest I grab 2 x 256GB and RAID 0 them instead ? would that be more reliable ? Thx

No, just use a single 256GB drive and store the rest of your data on conventional HDDs.

No, just use a single 256GB drive and store the rest of your data on conventional HDDs.


Yep was my initial plan to store my OS on my 128GB, software & games on a 256GB and data on my old 1Tb HDD.
But since my HDD is about 5 years old wasn't sure if it would just stop one day, hence planning a full SSD move... lol

Nevertheless, thanks for you advise will think about the Samsung EVO or just wait for Christmas specials... :D

Crucial MX100 512GB - $265 - MSY

That one is also a very good alternative to the EVO.
