Do you have windows installed on an SSD?
If yes, what is the free space out of the total disk space remaining?

The thing is, if you go under 20-25% free space, most SSD`s will start to slow down due to the way the work.
What I do is install the big/least used applications on my secondary drive, and only the OS and 2-3 games on the SSD.

Try this:
Defragment your HDD
- Restart
- Do it again
- Consider getting an SSD and/or Diskeeper Corp. software if your HDD has heaps of old files on it.

Then consider disabling Superfetch as your HDD is prefetching a heap of stuff it probably doesn't need.
- Do the defrags first, as they can benefit from the superfetch data.

My SSD is 120 GB as you can see in my signature.
However, my V300 is worse than the 840 EVO, and I never actually tested it`s speed.

The 840 EVO comes in at around 500 MB/s in both read/write tasks if I remember correctly.
Also, if you can get two 120 GB SSD`s and set them in RAID 0, you should get better speeds, around 700-800 MB/s from them.

The SSD to HDD and vice-versa is limited to the speed of the HDD.
But if you would copy from SSD to SSD, you would get these speeds.

And regarding RAID (there are different types like 0, 1 and others), the speed increase is due to the fact that the SSD`s are made to act as one, but if you think about it, you have two connections that transfer data, which allows for the data transfer speed to get better.

Since I am now under the 20% free space limit, my SSD will not be performing optimal if I`ll add anything else. Hence, I would not be able to provide you with anything that will be relevant, since having 40% free space will probably have different results.

If you want to understand that, fine. If not, you can always gift me an SSD, and I`ll give you all the test results that you want ;)
