In my computer I have an Toshiba DVD burner and on a IDE -card another DVD burner. When I start it in most cases the sysem recognizes the IDE DVD but not the SATA. Sometimes it shows the SATA drive. But when i put a CD or DVD in either drive.they vanish completely. They are simply not there anymore. I had the computer in a shop, They tried to fix it a whole day. But even they capitulated.
From Microsoft there is no help either. What can I do short of throwing the machine away ?

Post your complete and detailed build.

You have 2 optical drives? One IDE (old I gather) and one SATA?

Does it run OK if you don't hook up the IDE drive ODD?
