Hi,

I have a 840 EVO 1TB as additional disk in a PC - everything fine. Then I wanted to speed up my Acer notebook and installed the SSD as second drive. But right from the beginning, I missed a directory on the drive. Then after some clicks using the Windows Explorer directory by directory disappeared.

I then removed the SSD from the notebook and installed it on my PC. The directories are still gone. I can copy data to the SSD and it looks as if everything is ok - except Windows telling me, that the recycle-bin is corrupted - repairing it does not help.

Any hint, idea? I would like to use the SSD in my notebook...

Usually having two operating systems without any barrier between them will cause problems. You can use the SSD, but you will need to duplicate your current drive onto the new one - see this instructional video http://www.cnet.com/videos/replace-your-computers-main-...

...when I use the SSD in another PC everything is ok. This issue only comes up with the notebook. Ok, the notebook uses win 8.1 while my PCs use Win 7. But when I use the SSD via i.e. an USB-docking-station everything works fine.

I feel it has to do with the SATA port of the notebook - but I do not know much about the technical aspects of this problem...

I don't think the port is the problem. For one, a faulty SATA port is incredibly unlikely. Second, having resources for two operating systems on one PC will cause issues.

What are you trying to achieve again?
