OK so I'm looking at the g-sync monitors that are currently available and really like the Asus ROG swift(1440p) and the Acer xb280hk(4k) but my main concern is weather or not it is worth going with 1440p or 4k with my current build since I would really like to run ultra/high while maintaining a minimum of 40fps.or should I just get the Acer xb270h (1080p) so I can keep good fps?Ill probably be playing a lot of shooters.far cry 4,hopefully star citizen, and play quite a bit of planetside 2.

My current build
Intel i7 4770k
Asus maximus vi hero mobo
Evga 4gb gtx 980 sc
16gb adata xpg v2 1600 ddr3
Corsair cx750m power supply
512gb crucial ssd
600gb WD raptor hdd
Enermax liqtech 240 cooler
Corsair 450d mid atx case

Solution
Go with the Swift. Your 980 will a achieve at least 40fps in almost all games, and g-sync will make it look like a smooth 60 anyhow. You won't regret it, as 1440p is an outstanding middle ground for great image quality and not a huge hit to performance.

Plus, SLIing your 980 down the road will make the Swift better (being a 144hz monitor and all)

Thanks for the speedy responses! With the swift how common have dead pixels been? Seems like I've seen an abnormally high number of complaints about it, Should I wait for that to get figured out ya think? Or is it really not that common of an issue?

It's not necessarily uncommon for monitors to come with dead pixels. In the case of the Swift, just make sure you get it from a reputable dealer such as Amazon or Newegg. I am personally waiting for Asus to come out with a driver update to fix a small issue with monitor refresh rates resetting, but besides that I wouldn't worry.
