Hi !

I have a VERY STRANGE problem, if you resolve it i will call you sherlock holmes, anyway.

Since i have moved two sata cable on my 4x2 SATA ports on my motherboard, i have a (very) strange problem:

My HDD led stay solid, but disk utilisation is at 0% or 1% whatever...

AND there is always a hard drive that is not detected, last time it was one of 230 go, i was changing sata cables again , and now it's one of 2 tb (and the 230go one is detected again)

And when i logged in and i reached desktop, my system completly freezes, i runned a CHKDSK and now i have still have all problems, except my system don't freeze once i am on desktop.

BUT when i plug a headset the system freeze, when i click on sound in control panned the system freeze, before shutdown the system freeze, and when a hard drive is not detected, he is not detected ANYWHERE, even in device manager (nope)

BUT ! When i boot on the non-detected 2 tb harddrive, he is working ! and he can detected ALL hard drives without any problem.

So to simplify, my primary partition with my intel ssd is only one to have this problem, i'm convinced windows files of the primary partition have some problems, BUT, i have run every scans possible with advanced system care PRO, run some scan of windows.

And EVEN if it was viruses (No, it's not this.) i have do malware bytes pro full scan, avast (not the best antivirus yet) scan and nothing.

I have seen on some forums that can be from display device, ok, all display devices are uninstalled, problem is still here.

Disabled ALL apps who is starting at starting (obvious huh)

So i ask help to you, please help me, i'm still searching but i need help. For the moment i am on the second hard drive where i don't have any problems and this one.

My hard drives:
Intel 180 gb ssd (primary boot device, windows 8)
Kingston 120 gb ssd (ubuntu 14)
Samsung 250 gb ssd (totally empty, but removed from the computer to see any ameliorations, but nothing)
HDD 1 tb wd
HDD 2 tb wd (windows 8, and on a VHD (wich i am on actually) windows 10)
HDD 230 gb seagate

Mobo: MSI Gaming 7

I would disconnect all the hard drives except for the working boot hard drive, and get your system stable with that

Then, clone the working boot drive onto the SSD (I presume this is what you've been trying to achieve when you've encountered these problems)

Then, once the clone has successfully completed, switch the boot drive hard disc for the SSD onto which you cloned it, removing the HD completely for now, so that you only have the SSD connected - the system should be stable

Then, re-intriduce your other drives, one by one, so that if one is causing issues you know which one it is

Be wary of faulty Sata cabes by the way - it may not be a fulty drive but a faulty Sata cable that's causng your trouble

What processor do you have and is it overclocked? Also, motherboard and PSU. Do you have a graphics card installed?

If you suspect something is wrong with critical system files, you can check for it.
Start menu Run > type in "cmd" but don't enter > right click the result and Run as administrator > type in "sfc /scannow" and enter

If the crashing/freezing is preventing you from doing that, insert your Windows disc into the CD/DVD drive and reboot. While your system is booting mash the F8 key and you should get a screen asking how you want to boot Windows. Here you can choose to repair Windows.
