Will wireless headset interfere with my wireless internet?

I'm in the market for a new headset. The last one I had was a corsair hs1. It was very comfortable, high quality sound, but it got a lot of negative reviews for broken wires. Alas mine broke in this same manner after 3.5 years. The wires just don't seem that well put together with molded plastic around stress points that leads to fraying.

Now I am looking at wireless headsets but I have one major concern. My pc is connected via a USB wireless adapter. My router and adapter support mixed mode G and N but I was having issues with that so turned it to G only. Going wired is not an option. I already have a lot of issues with interference. I have a two year old and whenever her monitor is on my internet doesn't work. I also get random interference at times that goes away when I get on the router and switch the signal channel. I haven't really figured out what's causing it but adjusting the router settings usually fixes it for a while.

I am wondering if wireless headphones/mic are going to be any sort of issue.

Wireless 2.4Ghz band is over populated to say the least. If you are having random dropouts, you will want to replace your USB WiFi stick with an internal multi-channel card and update your router/modem also to a multichannel solution. That should help a lot. The older channels just have too many people using them. (I personally bought a 2.4 and 5Ghz router since there were over 10 2.4Ghz routers in range of my laptop when I moved in)

(Leaky microwave ovens may be your random disconnection problem). If the monitor you are talking about is a CRT, the high frequency supply can interfere with wireless signals (A very common issue in the early days of the cell phones/wireless phones was CRT interference)

If someone is stuck with 2.4GHz, another good thing to do is use something like inSSIDer to find the channel with the least interference.

I have an led monitor so that shouldn't be an issue. I don't really want to replace all my wireless hardware for this, I just want to know whether I should stick to a wired headset or go wireless. I really hate the wires and they seem to twist and break on a lot of these headsets cus they try to save money when building them.

What router do you have?

What headset are you looking at?

Interference is almost never a problem with wireless routers.
