Hi,

I was interested of changing my home network because it's not giving more sufficient bandwith since in the increase of electronic devices and needed some help in choosing the right routers and cabling.

My current network plan is;

VDSL Technicolour tg589vn v2
Cat 5 cable to a laptop (gigabit port), being used as a Server (NAS)
Cat 6 cable to a desktop (gigabit port), gaming rig
& two other cables used for the interactive TV.
There are 3 always connected Mobile phones and an iPad
There is also another laptop connected through Wi-Fi

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

What I require and What I thought; ("Budget 115 euros (95 pounds); boughtable for the UK")
- NOTE; I live in Malta but I could easily ship them from the UK

An VDSL2+, Annex A (Auto-sense best, PPPOE) router, 4 Full gigabit ports and Dual Band (600 - Total) - TD-W9980
2x 1000 mbps cable - Two CAT 7 Cable

- NOTE: My laptop which is connected via the wi-fi I wanted it to utulize the 5Ghz 300 mbps for itself and the 2.4GHz is used by the mobiles and iPads. Now since the laptop connected via Wi-Fi cant use 5Ghz frequency can someone recommend a good wifi-dongle usb that can use 5Ghz 300 mbps & WORKS ON WINDOWS 8.1, I SAY AGAIN, 8.1 for I cant find anything.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

To summarize; Budget 95 pounds (115 euros), boughtable from UK

1) VDSL2+, Annex A (Auto-sense best, PPPOE) router, 4 Full gigabit ports and Dual Band (600 - Total)
2) A good Wi-fi usb dongle (5GHz, 300 Mbps) WORKING ON WINDOWS 8.1
3) A good (cheap) backup battery for the router which I can use in case of a power blackout.

Basically what I'm asking whether would you recommend TD-W9980 or should I replace it with an eqviuvalent one and if you know a good Wi-fi usb dongle (5GHz, 300 Mbps) WORKING ON WINDOWS 8.1
