Hi guyz!
I purchased a new Samsung 850 Pro SSD yesterday and since then I can't get my system working properly.
First I used the Samsung Data Migration software, everything was fine. UEFI recognized the SSD, I made system to boot from SSD. Then the problems occurred. "Change PC settings" won't open, apps are not opening, explorer.exe restarts every minute, etc. So I did a clean install with data stored only on D: . Now I used AOMEI Partition Assistant because I was thinking maybe the Samsung migration software was the cause of the problem. Everything went fine, but then UEFI did not recognize the SSD... I solved that by enabling CMS in UEFI so I can see the boot order. So after booting from SSD the problems with apps, settings and explorer.exe still persist.
Now I have no clue, what to do next. I don't know what is the problem... Windows 8 or SSD, or smth else?
Please guys, help me, I am desperate.

My laptop is an ASUS N750JV
Intel core i7 4700HQ
8 GB RAM

Thank you beforehand!

José

I have one HDD with partitions C: and D: On C: is windows and D is for personal data. Like movies, docs, music, pics, downloads, etc.
Well the thing is, I don't have windows 8 dvd or anything, I have recovery partitions for windows 8 install on HDD. So if I want to install windows on SSD, I have to boot from SSD, but from there I can't get to the reset windows option, because I can't open PC settings. Am I missing something?

Ok, so what should I do exactly? Download the iso and install windows from there? Boot from SSD, then mount the image with for example PowerISO and install windows to the SSD? What will happen with the windows on my HDD? Won't there be conflicts or anything?

If you can boot your computer up with the old HDD download the ISO image and burn it to a disk, i use deepburner. Once you have that done unplug all harddrives and plug in the SSD and install a fresh copy of the OS.

Make sue you only have the SSD and DVD drive plugged into the motherboard when you install the OS.

Yeah, btw I just realized, ISO solution won't work. I have to create a USB recovery drive, because I have preinstalled OS. Will this USB behave like a DVD/disk with Win 8 on it, so I can choose, which partition to format and where to install the OS?

Ok, great, so the USB version would be the best solution for me, right?
And if the USB is completed, I should plug in the SSD and be able to choose to install windows to the SSD, right?

Ok, I have my product key. But the windows ISO downloader says this: "This product key can not be used to install a retail version of Windows 8".
I am stumped... I do not know, what to do now... I can not use the ISO solution, I do not have retail version; I can not use USB version - I can't install to SSD, only to the source drive, i.e. the HDD. So how else can I install my windows to the SSD? Only by cloning, which makes the windows on the SSD unstable...

Ok, I managed to solve the problem. It was caused by those crappy migration softwares... After trying with two different softwares and getting the same results, I thought the problem is somewhere else... Well I was wrong. I tried a third software, named Paragon Hard Disk Manager. After successful migration and boot order selection everything is freakin perfect :) So, I definitely recommend Paragon Hard Disk Manager software.
Anyway, thank you TechyInAZ and faalin!
Good night!

Used AcronisTI 2014 yesterday 12-19-2014 to image a Windows 7&8 dual boot hard drive and then restore to a SSD ( Samsung850Pro ). I followed Acronis website's advice to image the entire drive in full disk mode to a different external USB drive. Then I removed the old hard drive and installed the SSD in the same slot using the same cables attached to the same connections on the motherboard. I booted the computer using the Acronis Boot CD, on first attempt, the SSD was not recognized but I checked the bios and it was showing there so I rebooted a 2nd time with Acronis boot CD and there it was. My external drive with the image was a USB3.0 and Acronis Boot CD had no problem seeing it. I choose restore and browsed to the full disk image on the external drive and then selected the SSD as the new location. I choose to copy all partitions and Acronis auto resized them to fit the new SSD. When Acronis completed the image write to the SSD, I removed the boot CD and restarted my computer. Perfecto, I had my dual boot perfectly intact and both working perfectly and booting correctly. Both Windows 7 and 8 were originally installed in SATA mode so I followed the registry tweaks that are readily available on the web and am now running in AHCI mode and my computer feels like it's just been injected with steroids and adrenalin. Love the speed and instant response to input. Over all, it took a few hours but it's well worth it! As soon as the prices drop a bit more, I'll be getting one for my laptop!
