i think some laptops disable POST when fastboot is enabled.
you need to have several failed boot attempts (3) and I think it will get disabled.

so start boot, hold down the power button, and break the boot attempt and do it 3 times.

No I cant even get close to the bios let alone be asked for a password I get the Asus start up screen and regardless which of the f keys I push I always end up at the login screen for w8
