Hi I am building a pc and am not able to get the OS in time for my build. I was wondering if it was possible to download a free trial of windows 7 and burn it to a dvd and download it for an OS until I get a product key from my school? Or should i torrent it?

Solution
Windows 7 ISO. 30 days before it demands to be activated.

You don't just drag n drop, you use whatever DVD burning application you have to 'Burn ISO image' (or words to that effect)
microsoft has window 7 enterprise and windows 8 enterprise 90 day trials that can be rearmed via a command. You can download them directly from microsoft and they will not have built in malware and rootkits that many of the torrent versions have.

you have to do a clean install when you get the retail version.

you might also give the windows 10 preview a shot. It seems to work pretty well and you will have to wipe your OS later anyway when you get your school product key.
