I built this computer about a year ago and everything has been working great. I had originally planned on buying a second graphics card to run in SLI but then just never pulled the trigger. I was putting money aside to do it and just kept putting that money aside and have about $1500 to spend. Any advice on anything I should upgrade? I've thought about buying a 4k monitor and a pair of 980's. Thanks for all the help

What doesn't run as well as you'd like?
I don't see a PSU there, but will assume it's at least enough for your current setup.
The only things that come to mind might be:
1. Buy one GTX980, IF you need the performance now. Otherwise, wait until you upgrade your monitor.
2. Get a larger SSD. I'm using over half of my 256GB models, so unless you've had to do no shuffling, or foresee no space problems, a bigger one certainly can't hurt.
3. Add a second data drive to pair with the one you have in RAID1, for some additional data security.
Other possibilities:
1. Do you have a decent UPS?
2. Do you have an external drive for system backups?
3. I don't see an optical drive there; is that something you might ever need? For ~$16, that's a cheap option.

Sorry about that, That was the most recent pcpartpicker I had before I bought everything. I have 6 TB in external drives for backups and a Blu-Ray drive as well. My power supply is a Corsair Professional Series HX 850 Watt ATX/EPS Modular 80 PLUS Gold. I currently have a 1440p monitor and can run games at almost max. Nothing honestly gives me any trouble but I'm just looking for different options and maybe things I've overlooked. A larger SSD would definitely be a good idea and I did not even think about that. I currently almost have mine maxed and that is after shuffling.

Well then, the bigger SSD, perhaps a UPS...
How about your chair? Desk lamp? I'm not trying to be funny with those, I can't stand an uncomfortable chair, and good lighting around the monitor definitely reduced eyestrain.

I would love to get a new desk and a new chair for that desk but I'm living in a dorm and am not allowed to change out the furniture. I plan on buy a Obutto R3Volution in about a year when I move though. Do you think at this point and time trying to upgrade to 4k is worth it?

In my own opinion, no. Get more opinions than mine though; at 54, my eyes aren't as good as they once were, so other young whippersnappers may disagree entirely.
If high graphics quality is extremely important to you, I'd seriously suggest an art museum or a trip through a National Park. IMHO graphics quality takes a distant back seat to gameplay itself. Is the game fun, the mechanics intuitive and playable? Does it have replay value?

I think that I may just hold off on 4k then. I will still take some more advice but thanks for all the help so far. I'll definately be getting a new SSD and a UPS. I don't actually know a lot about UPS's though and was wondering what size of one you would recommend?

if nothing is bothering you, just keep saving. first thing you wanna upgrade is the graphic card.

I thought I'd reviewed that one too, but didn't see it. Anyway, I have it powering both of my systems (the small one is on my test bench). I like that it tells me how much power I'm pulling.
