At the office we have an '07 Dell that is starting to show some issues. Over a given day it will start running at a normal rate then will progressively slow down to point that we shut it off. We will shut it down over night and in the morning we show 40 GBs of hard drive space. At the end of the day, we are left with 7 GBs or less.

Any suggestions?

THanks

Are you saying you start with 40gb of free space and end with 7gb??

If that is the case then you probably have offline file sync enabled and it is causing your ocmputer to try to cache a external or a network file share drive, meaning it is trying to create a local copy of all of the files so it can edit them and resync them when you regain connectivety to that device agian.

It is a really annoying supid feature that put in Vista.

Hi there Nate_88,

It will also be good idea to run a hard drive testing software to check out it's health status. As the HDD is old, there may be some issues. Another thing is that when the HDD has little free space left, it gets more or less slower.
