So I have asked around at quite a few places and almost everyone only suggests downgrading without reading the full post. So please don't suggest downgrading as I already own these parts :p  I am just looking for things I could do to make it better.

Not really sure what I want to upgrade, haha. Whatever will give me even a slight performance boost. I have a $3000 budget at the moment.

what do you plan to do with this computer? so, it depends. if you're going to game. this is the best performance you can get without replacing parts. :)  you can add another 780 Ti in a 2-way-SLI. That'll be a boost.

I am planning on doing some software development as well as a little graphics rendering and lots of gaming.

Would you recommend upgrading the 780 Ti's to K|ngp|n or something? Or maybe switching to 980's?

If you already own those parts this is next step:

1. GTX 980 SLI
2. 3x Asus VG248QE 144Hz 24.0" Monitor
3. Nvidia Surround ftw :D

why don't you just use the pc at it is right now and see where you're lacking. as far as i know, that build should get you by just fine. If it doens't, add a single 780 Ti (the replica of what you currently have for a 2-way-sli)

Save your money for a bigger upgrade with the newer NVIDIA cards next year and when intel skylake releases :)

With 3000$, i would get a CPU that can handle more than 16 PCIe lanes. Something like core i7 4930K. Than get a matching x99 mobo. That way, you could fully benefit of a 2, 3 and even 4-way SLI with the 780ti. This would also give you the opportunity to eventually upgarde to DDR4 memory (when prices will be worth the performance boost).

That kind of budget, you could build a new rig and upgrade that one.

There are still some games that I get <60 FPS on and after using a 144 Hz monitor, anything under 60 feels really laggy. So I will probably end up taking your suggestion and getting a second 780 Ti! Thanks!

Hahaha, I was actually thinking about doing that and have one rig dedicated to F@H or something.

But wouldn't I not be able to use DDR3? So I would have to get DDR4 now anyway.

You will still be able to use DDR3 memory. Do not worry about it, it is downward compatible.

Snap, you're right. This is my bad. I was sure it would be compatible... X99 only takes DDR4 memory.
