New build sits there doing nothing.

New hardware: Corsair HX1000i PSU, Asrock X99 MB, Corsair RAM, CPU, GPU, new Corsair water cooler; Old hardware: case, old disks, sata cables. This is my first Asrock MB... always uses ASUS before.

MB will not POST. Wired & tried replacement Start Button, no go... wired & tried, old case start button, no luck there either. Tried with only the PWR lines into front panel header... no luck.

24 pin cable to MB, 12V cable to CPU pwr header, two PCI-e cables to GPU, Cooler fans tied to 4pin hdr on MB, usual cables to 5 SATA drives, case fan to 3 pin hdr on MB.

PSU was tested before install but now will not fan test.

Any suggestions on how to get this thing working? Must the CMOS be "reset"?

If you have a meter you can test the PSU Voltages by jumpering the green wire to one of the neighboring black wires on the 24pin motherbd connector. There is only 1 green wire.

But first make sure the switch on the Corsair PSU is actually on <grin>

I'm starting to think the PSU is ok. I pulled all the cables off (it's one of those with component cables) and ran the fan test, which worked. As I plugged in more cables I successfully repeated the fan test. Only when I plugged in the 24 pin cables -- power to the MB and CPU -- did things change... a very soft plink, plink, plink sound... made me think it was the PSU circuit breaker tripping and resetting, tho I'm not entirely sure.

what type of standoff's in the case? The little brass towers or domes stamped into the motherbd tray?
I've yet not to have one of the domed types not short out a motherbd. :-(
