Building a gaming/streaming rig in a week or two. Was practiaclly set on the AMD Sapphire Vapor-X r9-270x for $189.99 and it also comes with 3 free games.

However, I have been thinking of the MSI 750 ti for $159.99. Would this be worth the "downgrade" or should I even go up to the EVGA 760 for $199.99?

Also, I am a noob with building pcs, but it doesn't matter what gpu and cpu brands I use right? Like intel works with either amd or nvidia cards? and amd cpus work with amd or nvidia cards right?

More about : amd nvidia

Go with the 270x or 760. The 760 is faster on higher resolutions so id is better if you are planning on going on high res

270x is better in some games but the 2 cards are highly comparable to one another. It really comes down to what is your res preference ?

Is the 760 worth the $20-50 upgrade, depending on the manufacturer and card style? Or is the 270x good for its price point and the fact that I can get 3 games for free (two being Thief and Alien: Isolation)?

Also, I hope to be playing in 1080p and as close to 60fps.

Yeah I don't see why you would downgrade. The only reason to go with the 750ti is if you have a weak PSU
The 760 or 270X will serve you nicely

Go for the 270x. You wouldn't really notice the difference between it and the 760.

It will run games at 60+fps depending on ur CPU

Going either with the AMD fx 8350 or the i5 4670k. Haven't decided yet.

3 free games are worth considering for the 270x.

When we bought our gpu's, we got a sli or crossfire bridge for freebies... Thats it.

Then you will easily get 60fps with either cpu

The 280 is a nice card.

I would lean towards Intel CPUs for now because AMD is lagging in single core performance

that is an excellent card with OC abilities that you won't really even need. The FPS you will get with that card is 60+, the only reason you should really get a 280 is if you have the money to spare and you want to use it for your future upgrades to your pc

Thanks everyone. I'll most likely stick with the 270x card.

And if I wanted an extra boost in the future, I could just pick up another 270x and do sli, right?

Crossfire but yes

You'd have to have a few case fans with good airflow and you would also need a 600w-750w PSU. But it's not a bad idea
