Is this a safe temp idle temp for my GPU?

I have an MSI ITX GTX 760 and it idles around 40c normally, is that bad?

This is the type of GPU I have, is it normal for a card as small as mine?

It's pretty normal. I wouldn't be worried about idle temps as much as I would be about load temps. What are your load temps?

Playing War Thunder on highish settings usually maxes around 58c, but other games like Star Citizen which runs on CryEngine 3 can ramp up to 80c

80C is just below the throttling limit. I would use MSI Afterburner to set a custom fan profile or to manually set the fan speed.

I already have tuned my fan settings, granted this is CryEngine 3 we're talking about here. CryEngine is known for eating GPUs.

Yeah, that will push temps. I would just set the speed to 100%, or try an aggressive custom fan profile. Once the card hits 50C, the fan should be at 70%, and 10% fan speed in 10C increments from there. It is easier to keep the card cool if you start cooling it before it gets really hot.

As long as you aren't throttling though, 80C is fine.

I had to drop some clock/vram speeds to lower the temps, but it ran just fine.
