hi
There is an old PC with a single core 2.80 GHz CPU, 512 MB ram (two different branded 256mb rams), and 128 MB AGP video card...
Yesterday i installed windows 7 home premium on it and every thing ran well...but when i press the shutdown button after a short loading a blue screen appears and system restarts automatically and windows load again... every time i want power off the system this occurs again

What should i do now?
Is there any hardware or software settings to solve this problem?
Thanks for your help...

Sounds like a missing ACPI or APM driver. What make/model is the motherboard?

This is the hardware details:

CPU: Intel Celeron D335 2.80 GHz
M.B: Abit VT7 (VIA PT880-8237)
GPU: Radeon 9250 (AGP) - 128 MB

- If it's from the ACPI or APM driver, how can I solve it?

Get the motherboard chipset drivers here and install them:

http://www.via.com.tw/en/resources/download-center/chip...

This should contain the missing drivers for the ACPI/APM functions.

Also, in Device Manager, do you have any devices indicating a problem?

There is one problem in device manager...
A device named Video Controller say's the driver is not installed.
Should it be the problem ?

Not likely, however the 9250 does not have Windows 7 drivers and AMD no longer provides them. You may have to find a different video solution or just continue using the Windows generic video drivers (VGA).

Did you install the VIA drivers?

Can you upload the dump files for analysis.

Go to

  1. C:\Windows\minidump

Upload all those files by copying (Make sure you copy the files otherwise you will get access denied, even if you're an administrator) them to the desktop and compressing them in a single .zip folder.

Or even better, upload a Kernel memory dump.

Go the Start
Right click My Computer
Select Properties
Click Advanced system settings
Click on the Advanced tab
Select Settings under Startup and Recovery
Then under Write debugging information select Kernel memory dump.

Once a dump is created go to:

  1. C:\Windows\memory.dmp

Copy the file to the desktop, zip it up and upload it to a file sharing site like Onedrive. After the upload is done post the download link in your next reply.
