Hello everyone. I've been lurking around the forms hoping there'd already be a posted answer to my issue. No luck... so, here's a last-ditch effort.

I just finished setting up this new build. Specs:
OS: Windows 7 Ultimate
Processor: AMX FS 9590 8 Core
GPU: AMD Radeo R9 200
RAM: Corsair Vengeance 16GB (2x8GB) DDR3 1600 MHz
PSU: Rosewell Capstone 80 Plus Gold 750 Watt.
HD: Samsung Evo 250GB SSD
Extra HDD's are two 250 GB Western Digital Gate HD's running in Raid 0.

HW Monitor has my PCU and board at a consistent 30 C. No overheating issues.

Everything is correctly set on the BIOS. My computer boots, it plays games, etc. But after 6 hours into running the PC, it crashed completely and a horrible whirring noise came out of the computer until I ran over and shut it off.

When I tried booting it, it loaded the OS, got to the desktop, and everything was gone. Just a black screen with the basic windows bar, no programs or features. It crashes again and gives me a 'Disc Read Error' Message. Try to boot again, get an error message saying 'Windows was unable to boot'

Turned off the computer. Reset the motherboard battery, made sure all the hard drive connections were okay, turned it back on, go through the BIOS settings again. Cross fingers. Computer boots fine. Everything is back intact, all programs and etc. Install all driver updates for hardware, do a Windows update. Reboot.

Now I get this message that on boot that says Array 1 Error. The computer still boots and gets past that screen, and I'm actually sitting here typing on it and playing Hearthstone. Who knows how long it'll last. The message won't go away and I'm not sure what the issue is. Everything is working? Please help, I'm not sure what's happening and I'm confident this isn't something I should just ignore! :(

Solution
Mechanical hard drives fail merely because of the passage of time. How old are they? I would never use a RAID0 for data storage; break the RAID and use the individual drives.

But why would the RAID drives cause the computer to crash and not boot? The OS is loaded on the SSD. The RAID drives are entirely there for file storage purposes. Also, I should note that I was running those Western Digital Gate drives on my old build in Raid, and I didn't have any issues with them until I put them in this new build.

They're about 2-3 years old. I reformatted, turned off Raid, and rebooted. The Array message didn't appear, and It's now only Detecting one of the HD's. I guess it was the other's time to expire? Regardless, problem solved. Thank you!
