Hello,
the problem that i am having is that when im playing games and put them on high graphics, the computer shuts off like 3-4min after starting the game. The problem has occured after i bought a new motherboard and new CPU.I've searched in the Net and i know its probably the PSU, but i've come with another question. My motherboard has 8-pin ATX 12V connector , but my PSU has 4pin on the motherboards manual it says that i can use the 4 pin connector on the 8pins motherboard.Ive connected them correctly, but im wondering could that be the problem for my shutdowns or its the PSU.
Theres my specs:
Motherboard: Asrock 980de3/u3s3
CPU:AMD FX 6300 X6 3.5Ghz
RAM: 8gb DDR3
GPU: nvidia GTS450 512mb gddr5
HDD: 250GB Seagate barracuda 7200rpm (its old)
PSU: 400W (it comes with the case and its not from some famous manufacturer, its the one with fan on the back, Its on 7years, no problems with it until now)
Looking for every suggestions, if you are gonna suggest buying a new PSU, dont reccomend me the famous manufacturers like Corsair or CM,they are too expensive in my country (Bulgaria).

Thanks in advance.

P.S. Its not overheating

That CPU is a 95w cpu (vs a 125w like the 83XX series CPUs), so it should be abe to run on 4 pin of power.

I do still believe it is the PSU though. 99 percent of the time, when a psu comes with the case it is a junk psu. Just because they put a sticker on the unit that says 400watts does not mean that they are under any requirement to make it output 400 watts. You also said it is 7 years old, even good power supplies suffer from capacitor aging. A capacitor is like a little battery that rapidly stores charge and releases it as needed. Over time these capacitors reduce the amount of charge they can hold, in 7 years your cheap quality PSUs capacitors could have as lost as much as 50%.

Why dont you give us a couple websites of...

Why dont you give us a couple websites of decent vendors in your area and we can find you a decent power supply, is there a newegg that delivers to you??

Im not saying you have to buy the $100 USD psu, but you shouldnt go cheap on the part that can destroy everything else in your computer.

i was 100% that it was the PSU , but i thought about the 4pin , 8pin connectors and started thinking about other problems. But after reading this im 100% sure again that its the PSU fault.
Thanks
