Just wondering if someone know whats causing for the OS to freeze or becomes unresponsive when left idle for 30 minutes or longer.

This is the 4th time now, left it idle to cook dinner and like the 1st 2nd and 3rd time, windows seems to become unresponsive. And if you try to click restart or shut down, it will try and do it but it gets stuck on "windows is shutting down".

Mostly gets fixed by pressing reset button till its all off then starting up again.

Though the problem returns when left idle for long.

Any information is appreciated, Thanks

Do you have sleep or hibernation enabled (power options)? If so, I would disable both.

Have you scanned for viruses/malware? If not, you should.

so far no viruses/malware, I am pretty sure the sleep option is not on because I did changes about sleep/hibernation and disabled them to maximise SSD.

Anyway is this the same as when my HDD's shut off when they are not in used for a while? Sometimes when I get back, my HDD will turn off when not in used I have 5 HDD + an SSD. And usually when they are off, and I try to open my computer or open a file from 1 of the HDD, the HDD won't show on the list and usually the window will be showing as loading with the green bar and it takes forever to finish and can't open the files till then.

tested my memory with memtest and windows diagnostic tool and seems to be all alright. Will update again regarding the HDD turning off.

In your power options you can disable HDD spin down time. Just look for the drive settings in your power management profile.

yep got a default to shut off after 20 minutes to 0 minutes for never shut off, now just gonna leave a while, while its scanning some malware. Then leave it idle if it still does it.
