Hi community,

Sorry for the inconclusive title but i didn't know how to describe my problem without a wall-o-text.

So the situation is this;
I made a mistake when i installed my GPU.
I have a Sapphire Radeon R9 280 Dual-X wich uses two 6-pin connectors but when i installed it i
made a mistake in my cable-management.
Don't ask what, it's not important and i'm ashamed of such a stupid mistake but it resulted in that the GPU didn't get enough power.

It went ok for a few weeks cause i didn't stress it, but when i tried to run a new game (Shadow of Mordor) on the highest settings for my card it got stressed to much and didn't get enough power causing it to "Peace out".
My PC froze and when i tried to restart my monitor received no signal.

I brought it to a local pc-repair shop cause i don't have spare parts to locate the problem, (i was still oblivious to my mistake).
They found out it was the GPU causing the problem and pointed me at my mistake.
Now the pc-repair shop only identifies the problem, they don't fix it unless you want to spend extra.

This is where you guys come in.
I never had to deal wich such a problem and i realy don't know how to go about it.
I'm kinda afraid to just hook it up with correct power supply cause i don't know what damage i may have caused with my mistake.

So yeah, please help... :(

TL: DR-version:
GPU didn't get enough power and peaced out resulting in a frozen pc and no signal to monitor when trying to restart.
Now i have no idea what damage i may have caused or how to fix it.
And i'm to chicken to just plug it in again cause i might cause more damage cause i don't know how to deal with this problem.

Solution
try the power, rma if it doesn't work, they won't be able to tell, and too little power should cause it to fail safe, which it doesn't sound like it has done.

I didn't try it yet cause i'm not sure to what damage i might have caused earlier, a short circuit for example.
I was afraid to put power on it again wich might worsen the damage and void the warranty.

That's why i was hoping to hear from someone who knows more about GPU's then me that it's ok to just try it.
