So i bought a new ASUS r9 280, and i was wondering how to go about overclocking it. It's the oc version so i guess theres already a bit of an overclock, but can i go farther? If so, how?

Nothing wrong with seeing what it can do at stock voltages (or undervolting it for temperature and power savings)

MSI Afterburner is a pretty safe to use program. It is hard to burn out a GPU as they will shut themselves down when they get too warm, but the extra core voltage necessary for decent overclocking will decrease the lifespan of the GPU. If you replace every few years, not a big deal. If you can't afford to upgrade often, leave it alone.

I wouldn't OC it unless you need to play some games that it can't currently run well at max settings. Most OCing that is done strictly for benchmarks is something that should be done by experienced OCers.

That being said, you can use a number of different programs to OC, including afterburner and may the built-in ATI GUI
