I Tried to install windows 8 back on to my pc and it runs the install then restarts and then boots back to the cd or gets stuck on Loading Operating system. I have partition my hard drive into two one 680gb (ish) and the other 250gb(again ish) ,the larger partition is for windows 8 and the other Ubuntu. I tried making a bootable usb but that won't boot at all.

More about : install windows reboot back install disk

When you made the bootable usb did you change the boot order so the usb was above the hdd? Also after you have installed windows 8 you need to remove the disk otherwise it will keep trying to boot from it. Then go into the BIOS and change the boot order.

When I boot to install windows I hit F12 to select the disk drive and then the boot order in the bios is set to hard drive, USB-FDD then CDRom I will try taking out the disk after it installs and see if it makes a difference.

Edit:
I tried taking out the cd but then it just gets stuck on Loading Operating system and my hard drive is set first boot priority. could it be that the partition im installing to is not the primary partition so therefore won't boot to it???
