will a corsair CSM650 power supply be enough to get maximum performance with this build?

core i5 4690k
geforce gtx 980 4gb
16gb corsair vengeance @ 2133mhz
atata 256gb ssd + 2tb 7200rpm hdd
msi guard pro atx motherboard
cooler master hyper 212 evo cpu cooler
corsair CSM650 power supply

The TDP on the 980 is only 170 Watts overclocking that could go up but that PC will use about 360 Watts during a full system stress test so yes 650 is fine.

If you run CUDA applications then the power consumption of the NVIDIA Reference Design GeForce GTX 980 graphics card itself jumps to 280 Watts.

When gaming it only reaches 185 Watts.

The reference card is 177 Watts during that but even though this is really for gaming even at 280 watts the 650 Watt power supply is still fine.

The CSM650 is more than enough power to run a GTX 980.

A GeForce GTX 980 needs 30 amps on the 12v + rail and a 500 watt power supply.

The amount of PCIE connections needed depends on the card.

A +12V current capacity of 30 Amps is for a PC configured with an Intel Core i7 3.2GHz 130W TDP processor with a single Reference Design GeForce GTX 980 card.

i also hope to overclock the processor to about 4.2ghz, and i've lowered the wattage to a 600w corsair power supply just to save a bit of money. i assume that will still be enough based on all of your guy's responses, and is there a big difference in terms of efficiency between a 80+ gold and a 80+ bronze?

Your CPU overclock should consume around 25 Watts more than when using stock clock speed.

80 PLUS GOLD is supposed to be 5% more efficient than 80 PLUS BRONZE.
