When systems bluescreen they create a file called minidump file, you can normally locate these files in your C drive - Windows - Minidump

now that you have the location of the folder and you do see files, you can go to http://www.osronline.com/page.cfm?name=analyze
and upload the file and should give you and idea of what can be causing it. If you can feel free to post it on the forum, there will be a lot of info so no worries.

I have 5 different files in the minidump folder and none of them are even close to today's date. Also, the error only occurs when I don't have internet access. I'm at college right now, so internet connects through a third party app that is pretty inconsistent at times. It allowed me access finally on start-up this last try and the error has since not occurred but I still want to get it resolved.

Which link would I download from the nirsoft site?

I installed that and it's telling me that it's caused by the driver ntoskrnl.exe

Install Malwarebytes and run a scan for malware in your system. This should identify and remove the malware if present.

If that doesn't fix the problem - you may have a corrupted profile in your browser - are you using Chrome, IE or Firefox?

I ran malwarebytes earlier today and the problem still occurred after. I use chrome but I also reinstalled that but the blue screen has occurred before in Internet Explorer as well. Like I said the issue only seems to occur when I don't have internet connection. Everything works just fine when campus internet decides to work.

I have witnessed the crashes in Chrome, Firefox or IE....but not in multiple ones (it is usually tied to a bad profile). Something with the campus internet must be creating this issue.....

I'll be going home tomorrow, so I can see if it happens there as well. What do you know about the driver ntoskrnl.exe that the blue screen view program seemed to think was the problem?

That is a generic Windows system driver (not specific to hardware)....getting that error is similar to the one where it states, "Windows shut down improperly" when it could be virtually anything power related....or you pressing the power button.

Anyway - since you are getting this on two different browsers and it only happens when you are connecting to the internet on a "spotty connection" on campus - I would believe it would be problems with the connectivity.
