I just did an overclock on my new computer and when using CPUID Hardware Monitor I noticed that TMPIN2 changes with the core temps. This is very confusing to me since TMPIN2 on every past motherboard I had messed with was the northbridge. The TMPIN2 is almost exactly 10C lower than the Core Temp at all times (under load and at idle). It also decreased with the core temp when I installed my new CPU cooler this evening which is what first led me to believe it wasn't the northbridge temp. Actually, do the new Intel processors even have a northbridge since the graphics are integrated into the chip?

So what is the TMPIN2 and what is its safe max temp?

I am running an I5-4690k on a Gigabyte GA-Z97X-SLI.
