Hey! I need some help if it isn't too much trouble!

A couple months ago while on my computer would free while I played games. Particularly League of Legends. Completely freeze. I didn't notice the clicking noise back then. I couldn't even ctrl + alt + del my way out. It would unfreeze eventually. After about five or ten minutes. This continued to happen off and on. Some times more frequently than other times.

It still continues today. Only I'm starting to notice a decline in my computers performance. My HDD would make vague churning noises when under stress. Like loading program files. When the clicking noise happens my desktop goes quiet. And usually clicks again before un-freezing. It's very frusturating. I had to stop playing League of Legends. Got banned to many times because of it. I'll list my specs.

Desktop HP Pavilion
3.0 Quad-core intel processor CPU
6770 Radeon 1gb ddr5 dedicated graphics GPU (I added this)
500W PSU (Generic, I added this)
2x2 ddr2 GB Ram (3333mhz I think, I'm not familiar with ram)
I forget my motherboard, but it's either 2009, or 2011.
1 TB Barracuda HDD

No disk drive, when I plug it in and attempt to use it... My pc freezes. That's where it seemed to start.

It's all like three years or more old. I'd like to avoid having to replace the HDD if I can.

Thank you!

Backup any data you need asap.

A Hard drive can take months to die when they start doing this, some excel and die in days

Usual issues... Freezing, Crashing, Rebooting, BSOD, File Corruption, Crashing when opening a particular program, and loss of sanity due to all these issues

Not worth fixing expensive to recover data. If under warranty definitely claimable (some common dives have 3 year warranties, most have 1 year with the exception of a few models with 5 year warranties)

So a New HDD is required (sorry)
