I'm planning on building a 1800$ gaming pc. But I live in a small town in Iowa and only get 8mbs up and 1mbs down. Will I lag in multiplayer games. Do you know where to get faster internet in Iowa.

Lag wont depend on your up and down speed it depends on your ping. I get less than that (800kbps down) but i do not lag. Are you talking in bits per second or bytes per second

sounds like your family has dsl modem. start with verizion see if fios in in your town. then see if your town case cable service. att and or comcast both have cable modems with there cable service. also look in the phone book or online for local isp.

If you want to know how much lag you will see, find the IP addresses for some of the servers close to you that you would be playing on. The run a command prompt and type 'ping 1.2.3.4' where 1.2.3.4 is the IP address for the gaming server. You will get responses and the last part will be TTL= then a number. The lower that number the better, usually anything under 100ms will be fine for gaming. If you're lucky you will be sub 40ms.

It will depend on the ping to the game servers. So for league it will be the ping to the NA server. Your down and up speeds won't be an issue, it may not be quick for the US but its quick for other places.
