my computer is wired to my router but i still cannot connect to the internet... and if i try to trouble shoot the problem it tells me to install a driver for my adapter

i downloaded the driver to my laptop and moved it onto the other computer but when i try to install it it gives me a message that says "the realtek network controller was not found. if deep sleep mode is enabled please plug in the cable"

i have searched google for this and it tells me to turn deep sleep mode off by going to device manager and going into network adapters and turning it off... but my network adapter is listed under other devices and there is nothing about deep sleep mode on there... and i have no idea what to do...

please help me

thanks in advance

When you plug in the cable, do lights come on and flicker on both the PC's ethernet port and the port on the router?

Have you tried a different cable and a different port on the router?

Do other computers connect to the internet on this router?

look under windows device manager or the mb spec and drivers to see if you have that chipset on the mb. if you do look under the device manager under ethernet hardware click on properties and make sure "let windows turn this device off to save power checkbox is unchecked.

Also - have you installed the drivers for the mobo (chipset, USB, video, etc....)?

Does device manager have your proper hardware showing? (all drivers installed)? If you need a listing of drivers - CPU-Z will give you the info: http://www.cpuid.com/softwares/cpu-z.html

Does your device manager have all your hardware installed properly? Namely, the chipset, USB, video)? If your mobo drivers aren't installed, the drivers for the ethernet will not load properly. You will need to download the items on your laptop and use a flash drive, USB drive or DVD to transfer them.

Try this,
right click on wireless network you are trying to connect,
click on wireless network properties, or properties,
click on security,
click on advanced settings,
check box that enables FIPS compliance for this network.

This is what worked for me.
