Bought directly from MS, there should be a download location included.

Right. It was an exe of some sort?
Start the exe process from a Windows 7 PC, of the same bit level you want to end up with (64bit or 32bit)
Early, there should be an option to "Install now" "Install later via media" and "Install from desktop"

Choose 'Install later via media'
This will allow you to create a DVD or USB install.

ONCE AGAIN not sure how this helps. He is going to be doing video editing and gaming and probabbly dosen't want a glitchy beta. Also probabbly dosen't want to hear "Oh yeah I know you spent $150 on windows 8 but you bassicaly flushed your cash down the toilet, now spend $400 to keep using your current os"
