I'm looking for advice or suggestions on how to identify the most likely cause to this. Related parts:

motherboard - Asus M5A97 r2.0 AM3+
processor - AMD FX 8320 3.5GHz
memory - Corsair Vengeance 2x 4GB
video card - Geforce GTX 650Ti
power supply - Seasonic G-Series 650W
OS - Win 8.1
bios - American Megatrends 1602 (Feb/25/2013)

Two weeks ago this problem started, where it would not display anything after first turning it on. The case LED would stay lit, and the fans would all be working. After turning it off and on again after a few seconds, it would boot normally and windows would load as it should. I also noticed that this only occurs in the morning, after being turned off overnight, and it starts without issue if I turn it off, and wait half a minute before turning it on again. This week however, turning it off and on a second time no longer does the trick, and would only run if I turned it off and on for a third time. At this point I'm afraid it might not turn on again at all one morning, so I just put it into sleep mode overnight to avoid turning it off.

I've found a couple other threads with similar problems, although not identical problems, and the likely cause of this seems like it could be from the power supply, the motherboard, possible bad memory, or a conflicting / out of date bios. My first instinct was that it could be the bios, since I have no other problems once the computer is running, but I'm hesitant to try updating it if that isn't the cause, since I've never updated any bios before. Of course I'd like to avoid buying new power supplies or another motherboard if it is simply the bios. I'm not very good at troubleshooting, so any help in steering me down the right path of fixing this would be greatly appreciated.

Extra information about the system:
- the internal system is just under one year old, except for the secondary hard drives
- the first power supply installed was replaced with the one listed nine months ago after the original's fan died
- no signifcant changes in software in many months other than automatic windows and video card updates
- the only other hardware changes have been a new keyboard months ago, and the removal of a secondary monitor a little over a month ago after the display started to cut out after eight years of use

Your PSU is a tier2 PSU (good components - good for gaming) and shouldn't have an issue - Seasonic warranty should cover the PSU if that is at fault. Unless you changed hardware/software when this power issue started, it won't be the BIOS. The BIOS problems are usually identified when you first add a new hardware component - and in rare instances, a software (driver) update.

The first thing I would check is making sure that all overclocking is turned off - fail safe mode should be selected. Double check your RAM/CPU settings to make sure that they are correct.

If this continues - try removing the GPU and testing it a few days without it installed just to rule that out.
