It is only an 80GB SATA I drive....it will be slow and very limited in space - I would suggest buying a new one....maybe getting a USB enclosure like this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

You can use it as a USB drive for transferring data or backing up data.

That hard drive should be compatible with your new system. However, doing a clean install of your OS would be the best way to go. The motherboard drivers from the old PC won't be compatible with the new motherboard. Did the OS come pre-installed on your old computer or did you install it yourself? If you have a retail version then you should be able to do a clean install and then install the new motherboard drivers. Before attempting anything I would back up critical data first. You will definitely need to do this if you do a clean install of the OS.

ronintexas makes an excellent point. I didn't realize it was only an 80GB hard drive. A larger hard drive would be a good investment.
