I just recently built a Dell Vostro 200 desktop and it works perfectly. It runs on Windows 7 and has an Intel Core 2 Duo Processor. I try to download games on it but will take centuries to finish. Tried to install MW2, Doom 3 and Counter Strike Global Offensive on my Dell. Basically to get to 1% it would take like 15-20 minutes and the same amount of time for the rest. I am on like 8% on MW2. Tried cheat engine, didn't help. Also tried switching servers, didn't help either. I'm also starting to wonder if its my RAM because the man said that I only needed 1GB RAM because I feel that it is wasting my time. Also I have a 320GB Hard Drive. This never happens when installing games on.my other computer and I have a quality Verizon Router. Why is this happening to this computer. I am just pissed. HELP ME PLEASE!

You are going to have a hard time playing games on that computer.....it came out in 2007.....and with only 1GB of RAM, Windows 7 is going to be slow....

Kind of reminds me why my XP is so damn slow. Anyways should I upgrade to the latest service pack for Windows 7 or just buy more RAM because my computer guy from my shop said that only 1GB of RAM is needed but don't any of U think that hes a retard for thinking that because when my birthday comes I will build either a Sigita Gaming Desktop or a random Cooler Master Desktop from the same shop and also running Windows 7. My Bdays like 3 weeks away. Also how much RAM should I get because my computer is running like a motherfing XP.

You should have at least 4GB of RAM - 8GB is optimal for most installs. Given the age of that computer and processor speed - I would suggest not investing more money into that one, and getting a new mobo/CPU/PSU and RAM.

I'll pick up 8GB with of RAM tomorrow and see how that goes. Also in 3 weeks I will build another PC. It will either be Sigita or Cooler Master. Let's just see how the RAM will turn out.

I would say the computer is not at all good. 1 GB ram.. that's very less. I would say you need to upgrade that RAM.. If possible, get a new computer. Sorry mate, But that computer would not work well :(

Yeah, don't invest any more time and money on that PC. The PC will probably be good on basic tasks like web browsing, if that. The Vostro is the entry line up for business, so not exactly the best.

I just bought 4GB more RAM which will raise me up to 5GB of RAM. I'll just see how this goes.

Inserted RAM and all of a sudden I turn on my computer and it goes
BEEP BEEP-------- BEEP BEEP------- BEEP BEEP--------- BEEP BEEP----------.
It worked fine before adding the RAM and that is all it will do. Got any idea why this is happening? PLEASE ANYONE!?

Is the RAM compatible with your computer? Try removing it and see if it boots.

Tried reinserting my old 1GB RAM but same thing happens. It even cost me about $80 and both RAMs were used and the guy said that it would work.

Take the computer to the guy - tell him it didn't work.

Is there a way to get it to normally run without the black screen and beeping sounds? A bunch of other people online also have the same problem. Even my brother who has a custom case made by the guy has a PC that beeps but won't do anything else.

I wouldn't buy from this guy....doesn't sound like he knows what is going on. More than likely the RAM that he gave you wasn't compatible....And looks like your brother has a bad experience with him as well.....get your money back....

Well the guy at 1st said that 1GB of RAM is fine. Is it me or is it him because before I could get him to give it to me he said "1GB fine. U no need more GB" Does anyone think that he tried to warn me that this might happen to my Dell Vostro because he didn't want to give it to me at first? I'm actually pretty new to PCs and I built the Vostro myself with functioning used parts. Took me about 2 1/2 days to complete it. Cost me around $800-$900 for the whole thing. Also my brother has a custom case made by the same shop. I also plan on going back in 3 weeks for another case which will be gaming. I saw a few gaming cases in his shop which are Sigita, Cooler Master and iBUYPOWER.

This guy is RETARD!!! Looks like he dont know much about stuff if he dont know basic things like that minimal requirements for just Windows 7 is 1gb and 2gb for 64bit versions. Its just minimal requirements for system work so ideally should be doubled to good order functioning. Also why you didnt get 2gb at least if original Vostro 200 build have it and its for old, crappy Vista ??

Also for that money you could get much better spec than this if you would by online, for help and advice I would use this forum.
