I have a Monster surge protector (the 8 port one), and the internet in my room is pretty bad. I want to get a range extender (something like the "Linksys PLEK400 Powerline AV 1-Port Network Adapter Kit") to get wired internet for my pc. Extending the cable from my modem/router is not an option to consider.

The problem is, From the reviews that i've seen, most range extenders through the power lines block both outlets on the wall, which would mean i couldnt plug my surge protector (along with the rest of my devices connected to it)in the wall.

My question is if I can use the power line adapter attached to the surge protector? does it still work, and if it does, does connecting it to the surge protector sacrifice speed? If i can't use it on the surge protector, please suggest me some other options for me to have wired internet for my pc.

i mean the powerline range extender blocks both outlets when plugged in, even if its plugged into the bottom one. So if the powerline range extender option doesnt work, what other items can help me get wired internet to my pc?
