I just bought a new hard drive, then put in the Windows 8.1 (full version) 32-bit disc (went through the whole OS set up), then tried to put in the 64-bit disc and got this message:

"your current version of Windows is 32-bit and does not match the architecture of the 64-bit installation media. Please insert the 32-bit media and restart Windows Setup."

I don't know much about computer hard drives so I have no idea what to do. Please help!

you'll need to reinstall windows to 64-bit version. re-insert the windows install cd and chose 64bit version instead of 32bit if its a new hard drive and you dont have any documents then do a fresh install instead of an upgrade

if the application that you want to use is 64 bit, you have a few options:
1, see if the application has a 32 bit version, use that if that is ok with you.
2, reinstall the windows using 64 bit

32 bit usually works even if the os is 64bit (backward compatibility), but the other way around.. i think not

my suggestion, install windows 64bit. most apps are compatible with it anyway.
