Dedicated PhysX Card

I was thinking of doing this just because I've been playing Borderlands 1 and Borderlands 2 lately.

The only dilemma I have though is I've only got one more PCI-Express slot and it's a 4X one.

I don't really want to take out my CrossFireX config lol. So do you think it'll still work?

They do have to be the same GPU, but with a dedicated PhysX card, you can have any card from Nvidia, as long as it's not slow enough that it'll actually slow down your games.

Yes, that would relieve the stress on your GTX 970 when it's processing a lot of PhysX in-game.

No SLI needed. It's also helpful for AMD users like me, who don't have access to PhysX at all.

Just install your GTX 680 and in the Nvidia Control Panel, go to the PhysX Tab, you'll see choices to which hardware to use PhysX on, there should be three in the drop down box, CPU, GTX 970 and GTX 680. Choose GTX 680 and voila! Lol.

Does that still work? I didnt think you could use a dedicated phsyx card if you used AMD gpus as the primary? I was sure nvidia disabled that.

I'm pretty sure it should work. My best friend has a GT 640 as his dedicated PhysX card while his main card is an AMD R9 270X

I'm not sure if this is alowed in the forums but, he's might using a modded driver.
