Hey guys.

I bought a second hand pc, monitor, mouse and keyboard for £40. i opened it up and i was shocked. Looks brand new. Also i was shocked to the see the motherboard (never seen one like this lol) It's a Crosshair V1.04G.

Anyway back on topic. When i 1st booted it up, I told me that there was a Hardware Monitor problem and to check it out in the bios. So i did and the Esata voltage was low so i selected ignore.

Fired it up again and the CPU fan runs really fast. Also I think the temps are high too. The CPU comes up as unknown.

I took out the CPU and cleaned/applied new paste but still get the same issues.

These are the specs i can find:

Case- Antec Sonata II
Mobo- Crosshair V1.04G
CPU- AMD Athlon 64 x2 6000+ (looked on CPU)
Ram- Kingston 8GB DDR2
PSU- Mercury 300W
GPU- NVIDIA GeForce 7300 LE

Here are some pictures:

So to sum it up:
1. Voltage warning on Esata
2. CPU temps high
3. CPU fans fast and loud

If i don't get it solved, i will unfortunately have to sell it as far too loud for me.

£40. Need we say more? It wouldn't even make sense to recommend an aftermarket cooler as that may double your investment. :)

The temperatures looks fine to me.

In a case with no airflow, the temps seem just about right, unless your room temps are really low.

Use HwMonitor or HwInfo to monitor temps.
Did you try to reduce the cpu fan speed with speed fan?

Also, check inside the bios if there's a cpu fan control option.

P.s. The motherboard looks great!

Thanks bartholomew.

I am in a room about 15c.

yes, i have slowed down the fan using speed fan and in the bios. Much quieter now thanks. But should it be that fast on default BIOS settings?

Thanks about the Mobo. Is it good for the price i paid? don't know whether to sell it or keep it and do it up.
Not sure if it will be better than my current PC.

Its a very old board so I'm not sure about the bios fan settings, maybe the previous owner disabled it?

You got the whole thing for £40, sounds like a good deal to me.
If someone's offering good money for it, you can sell it & use the cash for other upgrades.
Till then enjoy it.. :D
