Asus H97M-PLUS not seeing OCZ Vertex 2 100GB

I have upgraded the motherboard and processor in my under-the-TV PC - Asus H97M-PLUS with an i5 4460. It will now recognise my OCZ Vertex 2 100GB boot drive only intermittently. I was able to get it running for long enough to do a clean install of windows but it went haywire soon after - constant BSODs, sometimes not even seeing the SSD in BIOS. I have tried switching the sata data and power cables around - and changing the ports on the mobo - no issues with them. Can anyone suggest a way of fixing this nightmare!? Is the motherboard faulty? Is there a bios setting I need to change?

Other components:
PSU - OCZ CoreXstream 500
CPU cooler - arctic freezer 7
RAM - corsair 4GB 1600
1TB data drive
BluRay drive
GPU - ASUS R9 270OC

For reference, I was previously using an Athlon X3 455 on a Gigabyte 870 motherboard, with all the other components being as above.

This has helped a lot, but it's still not perfect. It runs okay with just the SSD (now plugged into the lowest numbered port) connected, but when I plug in any other drives - data or bluray - it goes straight to the bios screen. Any suggestions? Is the motherboard a dud? I did the bios reset before reinstalling windows btw.

Thanks a lot for the advice. Still not working unfortunately. I updated to the latest bios version and it's still really unstable. Booting up seems to be a three-way split between BSOD then reboot, going into bios (no sign of SSD boot drive) and starting up okay. Even when in windows I have experienced BSOD a few times. Any ideas? Is the motherboard the most likely culprit?
