Hi,
I got a problem with my external hard drive which is freezing any PC or laptop every time I am trying to open it.
it is very big problem as I need to recover some important files .
Do you know any way to open it or to make recover to some specific files ??
Thanks

Solution

If the HDD's file system is RAW, you've most probably lost a partition on it.
You can test the drive using your manufacturer's diagnostics tool and the firmware update, you should be able to find it on their website.
If doesn't help, I'd suggest to contact their tech support for further assistance! :(
Maybe RMA the drive and get a replacement, if it's still under warranty!

Hope this helps!

Hey, Ramy_!

Sorry to hear about your problem. What is the model of your external drive?
It sounds like the drive is corrupt from either power issues, or from not being safely removed.
I'd suggest to try to run a disk check from the Command prompt.
Run cmd as administrator > type chkdsk x: /r (where x - is the drive letter assigned to your external HDD). This will hopefully fix any bad sectors and recover readable data on your drive.

Can you see it in the Disk management in Windows?
I'd also check for the latest firmware update for your external. This may as well cause this kind of issue!
Another thing I'd recommend to do is to go to Device manager, expand the Universal Serial Bus (USB) controllers.
Right-click every device under the USB controllers and Uninstall them one at a time. Afterwards restart your computer and see if it gets your external to respond.

Hope this helps you!
