Hey Guys,

I have just purchased and installed the following components:
Intel Socket 1150 - ASROCK - Z87-EXTREME9-AC
DDR3 - G.Skill - F3-12800CL9Q-16GBXL
Gigabyte - GV-N970G1 GAMING-4GD
Intel 4790K
Noctua - NH-D15

When turning on the machine, the fans spin and graphics card lights up but there is no *beep* and monitor stays off. This is accompanied by a motherboard code of 00.
I have removed the RAM and GPU which resulted in no change. There are 2 small stickers on the board with that show Z87 Extreme9 P1.40 which I believe is the stock bios version.

Will the incorrect Bios version prevent the machine from posting to the bios screen?

Thanks.

Is your mobo properly powered, i.e. have you connected both the 24 pin connector (the main connector for the mobo) and the 8 pin connector for the CPU? You need both to get a post. Please tell us about the Power Supply Unit. The PSU could be defective (i.e. not powering the 8 pin CPU connector).

An outdated BIOS can produce a posting error code 00, but you should make sure the board is powered up correctly first.

HI Mate,

I used both of the CPU 8-pin leads one at a time at first and then both as the manual suggests if you want to overclock. I failed to mention the power supply in my list of purchased components. It's an EVGA 750 Supernova G2.

Provided the power supply (New) is ok, I just wanted to make sure that when I take it in to the shop that I am correct when I tell them it's likely the incompatible bios update that is stopping it from posting.

Is there ever a chance it would post to the bios screen if the bios firmware does not support the CPU?

Cheers.
