Upgrading a motherboard without having to reinstall windows?

Is it possible? could I just boot into windows like normal after the upgrade? I just want to upgrade from my dying Asus P8 Z77-V LX to a ASUS B85 PRO GAMER Motherboard. Cpu is a I5 3470. Support is appreciated

Its possible, but you might loose your windows activation. Its better to reinstall windows (fresh install) They have different chipset driver.

Changing the MB you will probably have to call Microsoft for an activation code. I believe that is one of the parts that requires a new code.

It isn't a big deal to get. You call them, state you had to replace you MB and they give you a new activation code. Be prepared to give them you old one.
