Good afternoon all,

I’m currently experiencing a few problems with google chrome, which have never happened before.

The symptoms are quite strange and are as follows:

    - Chrome is pinned to the taskbar, when I click on the chrome symbol it starts a session in a new chrome symbol in the non-pinned area

    - The program works relatively well with one window open, however it is rather slow (and it’s not the connection as I have other computers which work fine)

    - (!) When opening a new window (either by dragging a tab outwards, or selecting new window, etc.) the new window goes completely white instantly and freezes the application (all other tabs). In some cases it even causes explorer not to respond (where the mouse can still move but cannot click anything and will not go over the taskbar). Opening the taskmanager and killing the app is the only way to re-assume control.

    - When the freezing happens and I open task manager I occasionally see one process which has around 13% cpu usage (the others on 0%).

As of yet I have tried reinstalling the program, and removing all personal files (when you remove google account from computer and it removes stuff associated with the account such as cache etc.).

I have also tested explorer to see if this happens, and although it is slower than chrome was before this mess happened this may be inherent to the program, therefore I can’t compare.

Since I suspected malware or virus, I’ve fully scanned computer with windows MSRT and avast! antivirus, but nothing showed up.

The spec of my PC can be seen in my signature, and additional details are listed below:

Windows 7 64bit Ultimate, Ngenuine, fully updated (bar 2 on activation). All hardware firmware up to date. Chrome version: 38.0.2125.104 m
I am more than willing to post any further details or logs.

Thank you for taking the time to read this. Any and all insight would be greatly appreciated.

Regards,
Val
