Graphics card not recognized during startup - lots of weird symptoms

Except for the graphics card (which is about 6 months old), this is a brand new build. Here's what I've got:

CPU - AMD FX-8350
Mobo - Asus Sabertooth 990FX R2.0
GPU - Asus HD7770 2GB
RAM - 8GB (2x4GB) G.SKILL Ripjaws Series
- 16GB (2x8GB) Corsair Vengeance series
Drive - Plextor M6S SSD
PSU - Corsair CX600 600W
I also installed an aftermarket heatsink - Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO
And I have a wifi card and a sound card.

All was running fine for a couple weeks until one day the computer wouldn't boot. It posted, no unusual beeps, but after post and before the Windows startup, the screen would go blank. Sometimes instead of going blank, it would just freeze on the "Tuff Inside" post screen, and I was unable to get into teh BIOS or do anything. My motherboard has little red LEDs that are supposed to stay lit depending on the problem, but none of them were lit up when it froze. I opened the computer, reseated everything including the RAM and the graphics card. I got the computer working and figured it was a glitch.

Yesterday, though, while I was doing some work (just word processing stuff), my screen went blank. Thinking that the computer had crashed, I hit the reset button. When it started up again, I got beep codes indicating it wasn't detecting the GPU. I opened the computer again and moved the GPU to a different slot. It booted up fine. As an experiment, I moved it back to its original spot and it booted up okay again. So I'm not sure if it just wasn't making a good connection or what.

To summarize, I'm getting three different types of problems that all seem related to the GPU:
1. Display shuts off while in use
2. Error beep codes pointing to GPU during startup
3. Won't boot past post. This doesn't point directly at the GPU, but I think the GPU is the last thing it checks, so it does seem connected.

Is it possible that the PSU is underpowered for my system? I have about four or five fans. Using some PSU calculators, it said I needed 700-750W, but others say I'm good with 500W. I don't know who to believe. And it does seem like the motherboard is getting adequate power based on the power light that show up. I'm not sure how else to evaluate this.

Any help is greatly appreciated!!!

Make sure everything is plugged in the right slots and everything fits where its supposed to go. Is the GPU securely installed in the PCI slot?
If not that could be your problem.

Tough to say, if you're absolutely sure that the beep codes are GPU and not CPU, RAM or anything, then I'd suggest maybe the GPU is bad, but it could be PSU or MB.

You should unplug the GPU power connector and start the system to see if you get the same beep codes. This could rule out PSU. I'd then play around with the two slots (I believe one slot hasn't experienced any problems at all so far) and see if that makes a difference.

Also check on temps just in case the fan on the GPU stopped working or something.

I think everything's connected correctly. It's all been reseated a few times!

I will try to experiment of removing the GPU power connector. And if this happens again, I'll move the GPU to the other slot and keep it there to see if the problem reoccurs.

Temps usually seem okay. But I'll check my GPU temperature and track that a bit.
