I'm just curious as to what the best FM2+ CPU is. I'm beginning to buy parts for my newest rig. Also, is it better for gaming to have hex or quad core processor? My current rig has AMD Phenom II 6-core processor and computes quickly as it should. Are the new FM2+ quad-core CPUs good enough or should I consider a hex core? Finally, would you recommend Intel or AMD?

The FM2+ CPU's and APU's are very Good, But a lot of Intel fanboys around here are going to criticize the hell out of me for this.

The Best CPU: The Athlon X4 860K. At $85, being a Quad-Core CPU at 3.7 Ghz., 4MB of L2 cache, and the ability to Overclock, It's the best CPU for the Money, period. Pair it up with a R7 260X or any R9 Series card, and you can game at 1080p no problem.

The Best APU: The A10-7850K. Despite its $170 Price tag, you getting the same stats as the 860K, along with Integrated Radeon R7 graphics. Pair it up with 2400 Mhz AMD R9 Gamer series RAM, And you can game at 1080p on most games. And if you do want to upgrade to a dedicated GPU, such as a R9 280X or GTX 970, The option is so there.

Overall, The Athlon X4 860K is great when hooked up with the right GPU. And the A10-7850K will do well even on it's integrated graphics. Don't let the Intel fanboys deter you from the A10-7850K. It's probably now the most underrated APU out there you can buy. You won't be disappointed.

Also, I have a $500 APU build that uses the A10-7850K in an ITX Platform. I recomend this build if you need a budget gaming rig that you can take anywhere as well. (That is, if you're also willing to carry a Monitor with it. opps.)
